A duck walked up to a lemonade stand...

Here's the video for THAT song:

I love this little guy, I showed my friend the video once and he referred to it as "the most atrocious thing he'd ever witnessed" so if you haven't seen it, check it out! But of course, as always there is an ulterior motive. That's right, I re-found the game "Lemonade Stand" and have been playing it on and off since 10pm yesterday. It is SUCH A COOL GAME and one that my housemate and I have attributed our increased swearing to; be warned, it can make you quite irate!
I thoroughly encourage you to play though, the first 2 times I did yesterday I bankrupted myself... I forgot you could charge a fair ol' whack for a little glass of lemonade.
give them bitches lemonade, bitchez love lemonade
Yeah, I've been quite preoccupied with this, especially last night when it pretty much became the best thing I'd ever encountered in my life ever. Like I said, it's the kind of game that can make you a little tetchy though, so unless you've got an amazing control over your potty-mouth then don't play near little kids!
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN YUCK, YOU'RE STILL BUYING IT MUTHAFUCKAS. BOLLOCKING TITWANKS I'M OUT OF ICE" that kind of stuff...

We've been to Sainsbury's this afternoon to grab provisions for the week ahead and do you know how expensive stuff is now?! £1.95 for a bag of peppers! I swear to god they used to be £1, and you could get 3 for that price, now it's all two quid for stuff and I just don't like it. There's something really lovely about buying veggies, or anything for that matter, that's one singular pound. We also bought a tonne of baking ingredients because it's one of the housemate's birthdays, we're baking a cake! Come Saturday this house will be literally bouncing with guests and happiness and ganache. You just wait.

I am so, so, SO sorry.

I know I've not updated in bloody ages, and like I said I'm really sorry (admittedly I'm mostly sorry because that means I have an absolute shittonne to talk about in this, unless of course I just gloss over any massive details...) but I've had quite a lot on pretty solidly for the past week or so.
Bam bam baaamm, yep, you guessed it, university exams. They were quite the trial I assure you. I had one on the 17th, one on the 19th and then my final one, today, only finished 2 hours back. We're meant to be partying hard tonight, but somehow I doubt that that is going to happen, as I'm currently sat blogging with a cup of tea, watching my hunched up housemate play Skyrim (please note, he's hunched because the telly is little, he's not a hunchback or anything drastic like that). What party animals we are, eh?

But the semi-disappointment about partying aside, bearing in mind I'm not actually upset by the lack of celebrations, I am in such a stunning mood it is untrue. Just it seems to me like everything is going swimmingly at the moment, and I'm so unbelievably happy with the life I've got and the people in it that I could just gush endlessly (verbally, not like, in a weird ~~gushy~~ way). Ah, contentment, u r so contenty. In addition to the exams finally being over, I got a bunch of coursework back that I did towards the end of last term, and whilst the results were variable, from 55% to 81% but with a 63% average I think I'm doing a-ok to be perfectly honest! I guess I just need to pull my socks up when it comes to the end of year exams and also my other essays this term. I am feeling so incredibly awesome about everything, that I am going to go on WebCT right this second before typing that bit about right this second  and look at my new modules! How exciting!

Oh goodness, that reminds me. At the end of my previous exams we just handed in our answer books and left, so in this one, I had 10 minutes left at the end so I drew a tortoise saying "Well that was an exciting exam" and a little bumble-bee saying "Buzz off!" and then my heart SANK when the invigilator said to put our question sheets into our answer booklets before handing them in. What a nightmare! Ah well, I hope they like the picture, it was pretty awesome after all.

Now I'm just sat, still watching Skyrim. My feet are absolutely frozen if I'm honest with you, I need a piss and I want some food I think. That's all I can think of for now, I promise I'll attend to the blog more in future.

I know I've been rubbish at updating, but I'll do you an update after/whilst I'm having my tea

I'm sorry for neglecting you! Thanks everyone that's been checking in with the blog still and leave me a comment/follow the blog if you fancy it.

ah, landlords, aren't they a real treat?

Here is a short story entitled "What the actual Hell?":
'Twas a midwinter eve, and all through the house
Clothes were strewn everywhere, too large for a mouse
I think that's efficiently set the mood, this is the Nottingham Fairy-tale; you don't appreciate crime until it (almost) happens to you, and happen it did.
On the 27th December, sat downstairs in the dining area, my housemate notices a shadowed figure going into next door's house, obviously he can't go jumping the gun, it might just be a neighbour. But 10 minutes later, here comes the shadowy bastard again, wheeling out the neighbour's bike with two bags, one on the handlebars and one slung across him. A conundrum arises, what would you do? Would you confront the burglar, knowing there's full well a chance that he's armed, he's clearly criminal- criminal enough, I hasten to add, to break into a contractor's lock up with a host of keys inside and then systematically clean out the largely vacant student houses.
My housemate does the bravest thing, he cracks a window and challenges the robber. In his own, kind of cool but very "him" way,
"You don't live there do you mate?"
"Yeah... uh, I know the guys that live here, I'm picking up them stuff they said I could borrow."
"You don't know them do you? Put the stuff down"

And he does, he throws the bike and the bag on the handlebars down in the yard and gallops off.

I know I sound like I'm gushing, but he's a hero, my housemate. I don't know if I'd have been able to do that, he ran to the front door to see if he could catch the guy, ringing the police at the same time, god knows a crisis increases his efficiency tenfold. I'm under no illusion that if he hadn't been so quick off the mark, and enabled the contractor to get the locks changed, way more houses would have been burgled. That kind of shit can ruin people's lives, make them scared to be in their own house, and he helped prevent that for however many people.

Anyway, the mention of the locks brings me back round to the present problem, this happened on the 27th of December, our contractor came and changed the locks on the same day but unfortunately our lock isn't the right size for our door, and locks with a key on both sides which is illegal in a rented property. In addition to this, we were only given two keys between six housemates, admittedly not everyone is moved back in. But when I got to the rental shop on Tuesday 10th I was told that "We have got all the keys for that street except yours". By some magical twist of fate, the housemate with the keys was in the Subway two doors down from the shop. So I managed to get all my stuff moved in without too much of a hitch, but it then becomes apparent that we were meant to have a lock with a twist-lock mechanism fitted that morning. Didn't happen clearly, still only had two keys. "We're having someone come round on Saturday morning to fit the new lock."
"You said that about today. Our lock is illegal."
"Yes we're very sorry about that, we'll get it sorted Saturday"

Of course I'm sat here, Saturday afternoon, not a singular locksmith has been in sight. Not one. I've also left it too late to ring the landlords and give them a bollocking for lying to us again, so I've left messages and an email and I just hope to god it gets sorted out soon.

I've gone and got 5 new keys at my own expense, but fear not, I'll be sending Reed the receipt and they will be reimbursing me. And sorting the goddamn lock.

I took some photos on my way to Sainsburys to get the keys done, so we'll end with those. This is my Nottingham:
brownfield and towers near the house

My dominion, we call the towers "Chernobyl", they're bleak

The Marina!

oh, and I've been pissing about with my camera today, so have some pictures

Here's a wine-red, calfskin clutch I got the other day, it's soft :)

my babies, sennheiser headphones are the bizniz

in one of my more chipper moments today, I call this the crazy oddball duckface

Mein darlings

I fear I have nothing much to say for today so you'll have to endure some rather dry rememberings of the trollishly boring day I've had today.

I woke up mid afternoon today, I can't say I remember precisely what time, but I rather think it was at the very earliest approaching the four pm mark. A feat in itself one would imagine, would one not? Alas no, my concept and grasp of time slipped somewhat last night I'm afraid, living the high life takes it's toll somewhat (as I have experienced for a proportion of my waking hours,.. hanging). But according to legend, legend being my sober flatmate, I came downstairs to collect my precious things- i.e. my phone and laptop- at around 05:00. Wow, well here's something, that kind of staying power is more than a little reminiscent of my first year at university, a point which has been topic of conversation about twice in as many days. But this revelation means that I was up in the attic with my housemate for about 2 hours, maybe even three hours! I have recollections of insisting that he play the sloth crossing road "I believe I can fly" version.
Eegads what must he think of me now... well I imagine he probably doesn't feel any different to normal, my housemates are pretty aware that I'm a character of intrigue shall we say.

IT'S SO GOOD JUST WATCH IT JUST

So with that knowledge safely in hand I don't think 10 hours sleep is too excessive. Makes me feel less like a layabout, although I definitely still class as one I think... That's the most I've drank in ages! Well, since New Years', but before that! oh wait, Boxing Day. Ahaha, nevermind. I was trying to make the point that I got sociably drunk last night! I NEVER GET DRUNK WITH MY FRIENDS ANY MORE. I'd honestly forgotten that it's really quite good fun.

And I think that's about the only barely half-way interesting thing that I can think to tell you. Apart from the fact that I loathe and despise my internet conection with the burning passion of 1,000 casanovas and their 100,000 used and vengeful lays. How in hell am I supposed to enjoy a program when I have to pause it every five minutes to allow it to buffer; and further to that TWO HOURS to upload a two and a half minute video, TWO WHOLE ACTUAL HOURS, pray tell me how one is meant to vlog (or try to, I mean it's not like I'm any good at it but whatever, how can I improve if I can't bloody well upload?!) By no means do I wish death upon my connection, that would be worse than slow upload/download internet. But puh-lease, a little more usability would be siq.

GAH is all I have to say to that. Gah and BAH.
